BMA would be agreeable to the remote survey, and issuance of relative IHM Statements of Compliance with EU SRR and Hong Kong Convention, provided that the appointed Remote Surveyor is satisfied with the outcome.
However the BMA is also aware of the recent decision by EC, as outlined in the Commission Notice 2020/C349/01, setting more stringent requirements concerning port state examination of a ship where IHM has been prepared and certificated without an on-board sampling . The Owners shall be notified should in the result of such inspection on or after 01/01/2021 an EU port state to rule the IHM inventory is incomplete without on-board sampling a physical attendance by a surveyor will need to be organised within 4 months.
